Virtual Programs: Building Capacity Across Difference

Breathe Again, Men of Water, and the Southeast Asian Virtual Healing Space

This season, our free virtual spaces have focused on cultivating the capacity to stay in our bodies while with one another, feeling into our experience of current events. It is a tricky space, especially when the current event or opinion someone is sharing about contradicts another person’s lived experience. Our collectives are learning to mitigate the harm caused by our defensiveness and righteousness so we can prioritize care for each other’s lived experiences.

This is the somatic practice of Bhinneka Tunggal Ikaunity in diversity. To be with one another’s embodied Truths, especially when they differ from our own. That means slowing down and sensing first, then sharing from the body: breath, pace, pulse, with language that respects consent and nuance.

We’re learning to pause before certainty and remain in a loving relationship even when our views of justice diverge.

These circles are gentle. It is so wonderful to practice being in spaces where disagreement can be met with curiosity, and belonging doesn’t require sameness.
