MR x Guma Mami: Pacific Islander & Micronesian Men

We partnered with Guma Mami throughout 2023 to 2025 to create space for Pacific Islander/ Micronesian men to cultivate emotional intelligence and build community.

2023- 2024 we conducted Listening Sessions with over 25 Micronesian and Pacific Islander men to better understand the state of men in Guam. Access this report here.

In 2024 we held several virtual sessions and two in-person men’s day retreats in Guam. One for all men and another for younger men.

In 2025 we held a 4-day retreat for men to learn how to do Movement Tarot.

In all of our spaces, we slowed down, listened to our bodies, and reflected on the stories that we carry. Most entered with hesitation, not sure how the experience would unfold. And all seemed to leave with deeper ease and trust.

We practiced letting go of being the “man” that felt imposed onto us and worked together to come up with our own definitions of being a man in our cultures coexisting in these shared spaces.

While we do not have any active programs happening with Guma’ Mami, PI men are welcome to join our virtual spaces.
