MR x Guma Mami: Pacific Islander & Micronesian Men
Together with our partners at Guma Mami we created space for Pacific Islander/ Micronesian men to slow down, listen to their bodies, and reflect on the stories they’ve carried. Most entered with hesitation not sure how the experience would unfold. And all seemed to leave with deeper trust.
From day one, we practiced letting go of the “strong man” mask.
Eventually we worked with conflict—not to win, but to stay connected.
We used our hands to support each other. Our backs to lean on. Our breath to guide us.
The land and sea held us. The ancestors felt near.
There was laughter, vulnerability, and fresh transformation.
The OPEN framework, through our new card game, guided every step—Orient, Prepare, Engage, Nurture—so that men could show up in their own time, in their own way.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue to share moments from our retreat in Guam—not as a summary, but as an invitation to OPEN. Stay tuned!
