June Avatar Flow Training

We were able to bring 10 Moving Rasa community members together for 4 days in New York City for an immersive training in how to do the Avatar Flow version of the Open to Rasa card game. The participants were all people who had assisted with retreat facilitation, provided mental health support, or volunteered in other ways to support Moving Rasa. We met together moving in parks, at the School of Visual Arts Design School for Innovation, and in my home. We even went to an Indonesian food bazaar on the last day. I love crafting these 2-4 day experiences with small cohorts because it allows us to get to know one another and share in culture together. The time together was so rich and precious.

It also marked the start of a facilitator training for the Avatar Flow version of the Open to Rasa card game. All participants learned to administer the card game, practicing with each other, friends, and some with strangers! In general, whenever people were able to get a session going with the card game, it resulted in heartfelt, intimate experiences. A little over half of the crew who attended this 4-day retreat will continue as part of the 5-6 month training crew to test Avatar Flow with their friends, family, and eventually community with a community partner. Special thanks to Limei Chen, one of the West Coast Assistant facilitators, for leading the efforts to take the card game into this testing phase.
