Moving Rasa Discovery Cards

A 33-card movement-based oracle deck for exploring questions through body, place, imagination, and relationship

The Discovery Cards invite you to explore questions through image, movement, reflection, and relational awareness.

You might sit quietly with a card, place it in space, notice your breath, journal, or respond through movement. The goal is not to find the “right” answer, but to notice what becomes possible when you relate to a question differently.

Small shifts in posture, attention, emotion, or perspective can reveal something that thinking alone may miss.

Why They Exist

The Discovery Cards emerged from a search for reconnection—to culture, relationship, and ways of being that honor difference rather than erase it.

Inspired by Indonesian philosophies of relationality and years of movement practice, these cards invite people to explore questions through image, space, movement, and relationship.

Rather than providing answers, they help us discover new ways of relating to ourselves, each other, and the worlds around us.

Step 1

How it Works

Begin with a Question

Bring a feeling, relationship, tension, transition, memory, or curiosity into the practice.

The question does not need to be fully clear. Sometimes the exploration begins simply by noticing what is asking for attention.

Choose and Place a Card

Draw a card, select one intentionally, or create a small spread in space.

Notice what images, environments, gestures, or sensations stand out. You may feel drawn toward a card, resistant to it, curious about it, or unsure.

Step 3

Step 2

Explore Through Movement or Reflection

You might:

  • notice your breath

  • shift posture

  • move toward or away from a card

  • journal

  • imagine an environment

  • explore through gesture

  • sit quietly with the image

  • witness another person’s experience

Movement can be subtle or expansive. Reflection can happen alone or in relationship with others.

Step 4

Notice What Changes

The goal is not prediction or finding the “right” interpretation.

Sometimes meaning appears as:

  • a bodily shift

  • a new perspective

  • a feeling of direction

  • emotional release

  • deeper curiosity

  • greater spaciousness

  • a different relationship to the question

A small shift in relationship can change how a question is lived.

Movement Can Begin in Many Ways

The Discovery Cards support many forms of participation — from subtle shifts in breath, posture, and attention to expansive movement, reflection, journaling, imagination, and relational exploration.

You do not need dance experience to engage with the practice.

What This Practice Can Support

People use the Discovery Cards to explore questions, transitions, relationships, and experiences that may feel difficult to name, untangle, or approach through thinking alone.

The practice creates space to slow down, notice patterns, reconnect to the body, and discover new possibilities through movement, imagery, reflection, and relational awareness.

Times of Transition

Life changes, uncertainty, identity shifts, and crossroads.

Relationships and Boundaries

Exploring connection, distance, consent, conflict, and care.

Community and Witnessing

Practicing relational awareness, listening, and shared exploration.

Overwhelm and Burnout

Creating space to pause, notice, and reconnect with yourself.

Grief and Emotional Complexity

Staying present with experiences that do not have simple answers.

Creativity and Imagination

Finding movement where you feel stuck or disconnected.

Beyond the Cards

The Discovery Cards can be used on their own, or as part of a larger practice.

One of our hopes for this project is to create The Rasa Field — a virtual companion space with guided audio practices, video explorations, and community resources for working with the cards.

Support through the Discovery Cards launch and Kickstarter will help bring this next layer of the project to life.

It's a place to return to whenever you want support, inspiration, or new ways of engaging your questions.
