Through conversation, movement-based activities, and firearm safety education, we will explore the patterns we have inherited around protection, masculinity, fear, responsibility, and control. Together, we will make room for greater awareness, grounded confidence, and more conscious ways of relating to ourselves, our communities, and the forces we carry. This framing fits the existing Moving Rasa language about noticing patterns, shifting how we relate, and moving with more choice instead of habit.

A limited number of aid spots are available.

Rooted Strength

A Weekend Retreat for Southeast Asian Men

This retreat is a space for Southeast Asian men to reflect on our relationship to violence, weapons, confidence, and power.

Many of us have inherited complicated relationships to violence, power, silence, and protection. Some of those relationships come through family, migration, racism, war, masculinity, or the pressure to survive. Often, those patterns live in the body before we have words for them.

This retreat offers a space to slow down and examine those patterns together. Through embodied reflection, dialogue, and shared practice, participants will be invited to notice what shapes them, what they carry, and what kind of strength they want to practice going forward. That approach aligns with Moving Rasa’s emphasis on awareness, repatterning, accountability, and relationship.

What we will explore

  • our relationship to violence, weapons, confidence, and power

  • masculinity, protection, and responsibility

  • fear, control, and the desire for safety

  • how culture, family, and lived experience shape our instincts

  • movement as a way to listen, reflect, and respond with more choice

  • firearm safety as part of a broader conversation about responsibility and care

    What the weekend may include

    • guided conversations

    • movement and embodied reflection

    • small group exercises

    • time for journaling and integration

    • community meals

    • firearm safety education in a structured and responsible learning environment

Who this is for

This retreat is for Southeast Asian men who want to explore masculinity, power, and protection with more honesty, care, and self-awareness.

It may be especially meaningful for those who are:

  • navigating questions of identity, responsibility, or belonging

  • reflecting on anger, fear, confidence, or control

  • seeking a more grounded relationship to strength

  • wanting community with other Southeast Asian men

  • open to embodied practice, dialogue, and reflection

Our approach

Moving Rasa is an experiential practice for bringing more relationship to everyday living through movement, reflection, and shared practice. In this retreat, we will notice patterns, deepen awareness, and build more conscious ways of relating to firearms, power, and brotherhood.

This is not about performance, posturing, or domination.
It is about awareness, responsibility, discipline, and choice.
