2nd Annual Southeast Asian Diaspora Men’s Retreat (Nashua, NH)
"When we learn to play with the world differently, we begin to discover that change is possible."
That reflection came from Ken after our Southeast Asian Men's Diaspora Retreat. Over the weekend, we cooked meals for one another, explored Moving Rasa in living rooms and forests, safely learned together at a shooting range, rode in race cars, and shared stories late into the night. Through these experiences, ordinary places and activities became opportunities to relate differently.
One moment stayed with Ken. A couch stopped being just a place to sit and became a place to experience care, tenderness, and love. That simple shift changed how he returned to his partner and the people around him. We often think transformation requires extraordinary moments, but sometimes it begins by discovering new relationships with the ordinary.
A special thank you to Joey Nguyen for generously inviting us into two worlds many of us had never experienced before. Joey took us to the racetrack and, together with his friend Sotheavy, welcomed us to the shooting range with remarkable generosity, patiently sharing their knowledge, time, equipment, and ammunition. Their care made it possible for us to approach unfamiliar experiences with curiosity, confidence, and trust.
